The Limo has been rented!

I finally rented the limo tonight and am pretty excited about it. Heritage Limo of Kansas City has had some great reviews on the Internet and I got to speak directly to the owners when I called. They were very nice and gave us a really great deal considering its Prom season and they could potentially be losing money on us.  We will get the limo for 2 hours. It will pick us up at the church, and drive us around while all the guests are making their way into the hall. We will then come back for a grand entrance.  It will be awesome!

The limo is a white on black 10-passenger with side bar and neon lights. We get a complementary bottle of champagne (chose non-alcoholic) and a red carpet.  I am very excited!

Invitations are in.

The invitations have arrived!  We are working on finalizing the mailing list and then we will get these things printed and into the mail. Look for them the first part of January!  Other than that, things are slowing down a bit for the holidays.  Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is fast approaching. We hope that everyone is having a great Holiday Season. Take Care!

Update

I noticed its been awhile since we have updated the site so I thought I would take a few minutes to let you know how things are going. Things are progressing along quite nice.  I have gotten together a nice list of limo companies for the evening. That part has been kind of tough as we are competing with a couple of Prom events happenning in the area. Photographer and catering crew are figured out and this weekend we will be wrapping up and ordering the invitaions.  Things are coming together quite nicely.  Stay tuned for more information and details.

Engagement Pictures

Last weekend we headed up to Council Bluffs. While up there, we had the pleasure of having our engagement pictures taken by Shane. We are still in the process of narrowing it down to a couple of dozen from over 200 but if you want to check out what we have so far, hit the Pictures link above. Thanks again to Shane for doing such a great job and making our job of choosing a few so difficult!

Plans Update – Oct 13, 2008

Update

I thought I would give a little update on the progress of our wedding plans. Many people question the feasibility of being able to plan a wedding in 7 months. I don’t think its going to be too bad.  We already have the location picked out and I think that is what really dictates how long people have to wait between engagement and the exchanging of vows.  Ash has her dress and I have a pretty good idea on tuxes.  On Friday we are leaving for Council Bluffs. While up there we are going to be taking our “Engagement Pictures” and looking at wedding bands. I am really excited for this trip.

The Proposal

The day was September 19th, 2008 and it was a Friday. I had asked Ashley earlier in the week if she would be interested in going out on a date that night. I gave no specifics and I am sure she thought it was going to be the usual Pei Wei and a movie.  I picked her up at 7pm sharp and we begin to drive up North. I think after we went past 119th street she got a little curious about where we were going. It wasn’t until we got stuck in traffic that I let her in on the destination (we ended up sitting in traffic for almost an hour.)  After getting through the road construction we finally made it to the Plaza.  It was to my horror to learn that the Plaza Art Fair was also going on that weekend.  Finding a parking spot was a lot of fun and I figured getting into our restaurant would be just as much. To my surprise, we only had to wait about 30 seconds to be seated.  Things were starting to go right.

The evening started off at Baja 600 which happened to be the first place that Ashley and I met face to face. During dinner, Ashley asked me if I was wearing the same clothes that I wore on our first date. I replied with “maybe it is” and a smile.

After dinner we walked over to Barnes and Noble where we browsed the shelves for books (also a repeat of the first date).  At one point, Ashley sat on the floor to look through a book and asked me to join her. Little did she know that I had the ring box stuffed into my socks and that if she were to look close enough, she would be able to see it. I did sit down next to her but had to position my body in such a way that she didn’t notice the ring. I thought for sure a few times she saw it but she said later on she had no clue. After Barnes and Noble, we decided to go for a walk down to the JC Nicoles water fountain. We sat on a bench with relative privacy but as we sat there more and more people began to appear. Finally Ashley asked if we could continue on our walk and I obliged. She did not notice that I had slid the ring box from my sock to my hand.  We got up and walked to the other side of the fountain. It was at that point that I stopped puller her close and expressed my love and happiness for her and said that I never wanted to be without her.  I then asked her to marry me. I actually did it twice. Once standing and once kneeling!  And she said yes!!!  She made me very happy that day and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with her.
This is a paragraph.
