Wedding
Invites are in the mail!
Just wanted to let everyone know that the invites are officially in the mail (as of noon today). We have stamped all the response card envelopes so please send them back so we can get an accurate count of people that are attending. Of course, we hope everyone can attend but we also understand that sometimes that is not possible.
We got Cake!
One thing that has always concerned us regarding this wedding is whether or not we were going to be able to have any cake. Many of you know that we are both Gluten Intolerant and that eating cake probably wouldn’t be that great for us. We toyed with the idea of doing rice crispy cakes, puppy chow, or just about any other item that would be appropriate for us to eat and that we could get to fit into the elegance of our wedding. Thankfully we no longer need to go through that extra work. Through one of Ashley’s dance parents, we were introduced to one of the best local bakeries I have been too; Dragonfly Boba Tea & Bakery. We setup a consultation with them last Sunday where they let us sample a few of their gluten free cakes. These cakes tasted awesome! We brought along Shane, Alli, Tom, and Carol and we were told that there was no noticeable difference between the gluten free and the non-gluten free cakes. We were even more surprised to find out that on the one year anniversary of our wedding that they will give us a free gluten free cake to celebrate. No need to save the top half to try and eat a year later! This place rocks! I highly suggest it for all of your bakery needs.
Monday was a great day!
Yesterday was a great day. Ashley had the day off from school and I took a vacation day from work. We had a huge agenda to get done for the wedding and we hit it hard. The first place we wanted to register was at Target. We rolled into the parking lot at 9am and walked about an hour and half later with a good start to our list. Next stop, Bed Bath & Beyond. That was a fun one. I love that store and it didn’t let me done that day. After BB&B, we headed over to the jeweler to get our wedding bands ordered then it was on to Macy’s for more registering. We even got over to a baker that specializes in gluten free cakes! The day ended with us at Target with Shane and Alli who where there to help pickup a new table that we purchased for the townhouse. I am extremely happy with all the progress we got done yesterday and it helped to alleviate some of the stress that was starting to build.
If you are interested in seeing what we registered for; head on over to our Registry page and check it out.
100 Days Left!!!
There are only 100 days left until the big day! Wow, we have a lot to do yet. I better get on that.
The Limo has been rented!
I finally rented the limo tonight and am pretty excited about it. Heritage Limo of Kansas City has had some great reviews on the Internet and I got to speak directly to the owners when I called. They were very nice and gave us a really great deal considering its Prom season and they could potentially be losing money on us. We will get the limo for 2 hours. It will pick us up at the church, and drive us around while all the guests are
making their way into the hall. We will then come back for a grand entrance. It will be awesome!
The limo is a white on black 10-passenger with side bar and neon lights. We get a complementary bottle of champagne (chose non-alcoholic) and a red carpet. I am very excited!
Invitations are in.
The invitations have arrived! We are working on finalizing the mailing list and then we will get these things printed and into the mail. Look for them the first part of January! Other than that, things are slowing down a bit for the holidays. Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is fast approaching. We hope that everyone is having a great Holiday Season. Take Care!
Update
I noticed its been awhile since we have updated the site so I thought I would take a few minutes to let you know how things are going. Things are progressing along quite nice. I have gotten together a nice list of limo companies for the evening. That part has been kind of tough as we are competing with a couple of Prom events happenning in the area. Photographer and catering crew are figured out and this weekend we will be wrapping up and ordering the invitaions. Things are coming together quite nicely. Stay tuned for more information and details.
Engagement Pictures
Last weekend we headed up to Council Bluffs. While up there, we had the pleasure of having our engagement pictures taken by Shane. We are still in the process of narrowing it down to a couple of dozen from over 200 but if you want to check out what we have so far, hit the Pictures link above. Thanks again to Shane for doing such a great job and making our job of choosing a few so difficult!
Plans Update – Oct 13, 2008
I thought I would give a little update on the progress of our wedding plans. Many people question the feasibility of being able to plan a wedding in 7 months. I don’t think its going to be too bad. We already have the location picked out and I think that is what really dictates how long people have to wait between engagement and the exchanging of vows. Ash has her dress and I have a pretty good idea on tuxes. On Friday we are leaving for Council Bluffs. While up there we are going to be taking our “Engagement Pictures” and looking at wedding bands. I am really excited for this trip.
Welcome
We are very excited to be able to share the road leading up to our marriage with the people that we love. Please check this site often for new updates and information about our big day.
